This week in class we got a handout where we answered questions about two poems that we analyzed and read and had to choose a question to do an oral presentation on. I chose to do question number twelve. Question number twelve was In the road not taken what might have happened if the poet had chosen to take the more traveled route what difference might that have made in his life? My answer to this question was If the poet would have chosen to take the more traveled route they might have had a different life. He would have had a worse life, and would have wished that he could have gone back to travel the road less traveled by. This is shown on lines 19 and 20 “I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. If the poet had chosen to take the rod less traveled by he would have had a very different life. I think that this resembles to school and careers, I think that the poet chose to work harder in school instead of doing the same thing as other people. I think that Robert Frost wrote this poem to show and tell people that you should chose the road less traveled by because it makes your life better in the total outcome. Choose to do this question, because I liked the fact that could talk more about how this choice that the pet made could have influenced his life.
This week we got a handout called “Whose Phone Is This?” We had to Chose one character from the novel Heart of the Samurai and make a wallpaper for the iPhone. I chose Manjiro as my character and I drew a picture of a whale and under that I wrote whales are my passion. I chose to write and draw this because from reading the story I knew that Manjiro loved whales and they were his passion. On this activity there were two emails that the character had not seen, we had to makeup what these emails said and who set them. I wrote: Mr.Davis- come sign on the franklin we would love to have you, and Captain Whitfield- I miss you my son, I will come home soon. And the last thing that we had to do was write three songs that this character would have on their iPhone playlist. I wrote, My Heart will go on by Celine Dion, I chose this song because it described how Manjiro felt when he was on a boat. Another song that I chose was Beautiful whale song by Nafek77, I choose this song because Manjiro loved whales and he thought that they were beautiful. And the last song that I chose was symphony no.40 by mozart, and I chose this song because that is the type of music that they would probably listen to on that type of ship. This whole iPhone was based around whales and going on ships I did this, because Manjiro was a teenage boy who loved sailing on ships into the ocean, and he also loved whales and found them beautiful.

This week in class we went to mass for Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is the first day of lent. On this day we usually go to church to get some ashes in the shape of a cross on our forehead. These Ashes are made out of burning the psalms that were used last year for psalm Sunday. On Ash Wednesday we celebrate the first day of lent. lent is the time period when we give up a bad thing like: eating candy, eating meat, or watching TV,: what ever you give up you have to give up for forty days because that is how long lent is. during lent we give something up, because want to stop doing these bad habits that separate us from God and, when we give these things up we get closer to God. The ashes represent that we were made out of ashes and wilt urn into ashes. usually the color that represents lent is purple, or violit. There are some symbols that represent lent. The first symbol that represents lent is the pretzel this reminds us to pray, because of the way it is formed. The second symbol that represents lent is the butterfly, this represents new life with God. And the last symbol that represents lent is praying hands pointing up, this symbolizes praying up to heaven. And the last symbol that represents lent is
This week in class we learned about commas. We learned the eight rules for commas. The first rule was: use commas to separate items in a list of three of more. The second rule was: use a comma to separate independent clauses (complete thoughts) when they are joined by the following conjunctions: but, or, yet, for, and, nor, and so (B.O.Y. F.A.N.S.).The third rule was: use a comma to separate a dependent clause (incomplete thought) from an independent clause (complete thought). The forth rule was: use (a) comma(s) to separate any word or phrase from the rest of the sentence that is not essential to the sentence's meaning. This phrase usually provides extra information about the subject. The fifth rule was: use a comma to separate a quotation from the rest of a sentence. The sixth rule was: use a comma to separate an introductory element from the rest of a sentence. The seventh rule was: use a comma to separate the name of a city from a country or state. And the eight rule was: use a comma to separate the day of the week, the day of the month, and the year. We got a hand out and did some work on it according to the eight rules. An example of the first one is: My favorite colors are blue, red, and pink. One example of the second lesson was: We can go to the zoo, or we can go to the movie theater. One example of the third lesson was: In five minutes, the building will be closed. One example of the fourth lesson was: Tanner, my teacher is wearing a grey shirt. One example of the fifth rule is: "I am tired," he murmured." one example of the sixth question is: Wait, is there another way? One example of the seventh lesson was: We are going to Spokane, Washington. And one example of the eighth lesson is George Washington was born on February 22, 1732.
This week in class we read a short story named Harrison Bergeron. The story was really interesting. It was about a world that tried to make everyone equal. And dumb was considered normal, so the government decided to make up handicapps for people to make them "normal." There were many different kinds of handicapps:if you were smart you would have to have something in your ears that played a loud noise that would distract you when you thought of an idea or thought at all, if you were beautiful you would have to wear a mask, if you were strong you would have to carry a heavy bag and if you had perfect vision you would have to wear glasses that would make you half blind. So in this story there were ballerinas who would dance horribly so that people would not feel bad. In this story Hazel and George had a child who went to jail because he had taken off his Handicapps, but he had escaped, and the most beautiful ballerina announced it on television to turn him in. But then he came there and he ripped off all of his handicapps on TV and said that he was now ruler and he would choose his queen and the ballerina volunteered and she took off all of her handicapps. So they danced on TV but they danced beautifully, and then after they kissed. But then the girl president came and shot them both and killed them. And they put a loud sound out to brain wash everyone who had seen that TV show, and that was the end of the story. I liked that story but I just wish that there was more to it.
This week in class took notes on 3.10 indefinite pronouns. We wrote: an indefinite pronoun refers to any or all of a group of people, places, or things. Some singular indefinite pronouns are: another, anybody, anyone, anything, each, either, everybody, everyone, everything, much, neither, nobody, no one, nothing, one, other, somebody, someone, and something. Some plural indefinite pronouns are: both, few, many, others, and several. Some singular and plural indefinite pronouns are: all, any, most, none, some. Like nouns, indefinite pronouns act as subjects and objects. One example is: Much about the cowboy is myth. Much is the singular indefinite pronoun. Another example is: This book about cowboys was given to me by someone- I can’t remember whom I got it from. Someone is the singular indefinite pronoun. Someone is also the object of a preposition. One main point was: negative indefinite pronouns, such as no one, nobody, and nothing, should not be combined with other negative words such as no, not,and never. Indefinite pronouns are used all the time, some examples are: one person walked in to the water. One is the singular indefinite pronoun. Another example is: both seagulls pecked at the cheeto that had fallen on to the sandy beach. Both is the plural indefinite pronoun. Another example is: none of them went to outside on the gray and stormy day. None is an indefinite pronoun that could be singular or plural.
This week in class we focused a lot on poems. There are many many different kinds of poems there are: alliteration poems, allusion poems, assonance poems, ballad poems, consonance poems, diction poems, enjambment poems, free verse poems, metaphor poems, onomatopoeia poems, rhythm poems, simile poems, theme poems, symbol poems, tone poems, and verse poems. There are many poems, this week we learned how to read them correctly with a book mark. the book mark had steps. Step one was: show no fear, will I understand everything on the first reading? no is that okay/normal? yes. The second step is:read the title Then, stop. Why? died what you think the poem will be about jugging by the title. Step three would be: read the poem all the way through. The step fourth step said: annotate what does this mean? underline, highlight, or write comments take notes write next to anything that you: really like, reminds you of something else, is interesting, is confusing, or is important. The fifth step said to use a dictionary to look up words that I don't know. The sixth step said to identify the narrator. The seventh step said to notice shots or chances such as but and however. The eighth step said to figure out the structure this includes what is interesting about: the meter of the lines, the physical layout, the text, and the use of space. And the last step was to read the poem one more time, aloud if possible. This was one thing that we did in class this week.
This winter break I had a lot of fun. I did a lot of different things. First, I went to a Christmas party at a relatives house with all of my cousins. we had a lot of fun, we ate some food, opened presents, and had fun together. After that party I rested some days and then, had a party of my own in my house. We ate, had fun, and sang. After that second party with my family, I stayed home for a few more days. Then, I went to san deign to stay with some cousins and went to sea world a day after Christmas. after that tricot san deigo, I went home and rested again. after a few days I went ice-skating with some friends. Then after some days of rest, it was new years so I had a new years party. Then after some days of rest at home, I got sick this was the worst part of winter break, I had fever and couldn't breathe, I was so worried that I would not get better in time for school, but I did. When I went to school I was a little sick but now I am fine. This was the best two week vacation or break ever, I had a lot of fun with my family.
This week in class we wrote about how life would be like if books came in brown bags with only four to five words describing the book like: love, adventure, greed and prejudice, if we usually choose a book by its cover, and what were five words that describe the last book we read, the last book I read was The Pearl. I wrote: I do pick books by their covers, I do usually look at the title, how the front of the book looks like, and I read the back. I think that if books came in a brown paper bag and there were only five words to describe the book, we would be able to choose the perfect book because we would not criticize the wrong book and read a boring book (a bad book) just because of the cover. with the colors and the words. Some words that would describe the last book that I read (The Pearl) would be: prejudicious because many people were unfair and the doctor was racist in that book, avarice because many people were greedy because they wanted the pearl all to themselves and went through extreme measures to try to steal it, sad because many people died in that story and/or were evil, and violent because many people tried to kill and steal the the book.
