Something that we learned this week in class was simple progressive and perfect tenses. The three simple tenses are past tense, present tense, and future. We learned that when you use progressive tense you should use the auxiliary verb be and a present participle. the three progressive tenses are present progressive, past progressive, and future progressive. An example of present progressive is Alyssa is studying Italian. The example for past progressive is Alyssa was studying Italian. An example for past progressive is Alyssa was studying Italian. An example for future progressive is Alyssa will be studying Italian. There are three perfect tenses. when you use a perfect tense you use have and a past participle. An example for present tense is I have read the super long book on venice. An example for the past perfect tense is I had read the super long book on venice before my trip. An example for the future perfect tense is I will have read the super long book on venice before my ten hour flight to there. when you use the present tense you have started in the past but you will continue to do the action that you are doing in the sentence. When you use the past tense you have completed the action by another action in the sentence. When you use the future tense you will eventually complete something by a specific side during the sentence. We learned that In perfect tenses the passive voice is formed by inserting been. An example of this is The solution has been proposed a while ago. The progressive form of perfect tenses indicate ongoing actions. An example of this is I have been planning for months. I wrote all of these notes down in my composition. I can’t wait to learn more about this.
A current event that has happened was the twenty fifth anniversary of the LA riots. These people went crazy on the streets because of what happened to They were mad because racial injustice and police brutality was a huge problem that was going on. They were specifically mad about what happened a year earlier in 1951 to Rodney King. In 1951 a black man named Rodney King was caught on tape being beat by LA police officers. He was kicked and hit after he was pulled over following a high speed chase. Later in 1952 a jury found the four LA police officers who had beaten Rodney King almost to death. Three of these officers were white and one of them was hispanic. They all went to court and were found not guilty of the crime of assault. This unfair incident was what caused everyone to start to go crazy by robbing banks, destroying buildings by setting them on fire and killing or injuring many different people. Violence was filling LA because of the riots. More than fifty people were killed. More 2,300 people were injured. And a billion dollars worth of damage was caused. People were running around breaking in homes, shops, restaurants, everywhere and killing and injuring people. These people were trying to make a stand for Rodney king. Rodney King was treated unfairly twice. first he was beat almost to death and then the people who did this to him were let go and called not guilty. Within an hour of the trial where the four men, who beat Rodney King, were said not guilty the people started going to the streets to go crazy to show that hey knew that this was unfair. While the riot was happening Rodney King made a speech where he said “Can we all get along, can we get along.” This incident caused the police officers to change some of their ways. They are now encouraged to use non lethal weapons like pepper spray and stunt guns. And video cameras in police cars are common to record encounters. Now they have a lot more variety of races and genders they are now almost fifty percent hispanic and twenty percent women where as they used to be a majority of male white. I think that we should be fair in everything that we do and say. We should use this incident to learn. And black lives do matter.
This week in class we watched a short film that was about a women who suffered and survived the holocaust. During the movie she described many of the terrible things that happened to her and around her. She said some short stories that happened to her during her journey. She started with a story about how at one point all of the young men had to go and be soldiers. She said that her older brother died in the war. She said that the loss of her brother was probably the worst for her. She then talked about how she was separated from her mom and dad. She said that she was had just arrived at a camp where the stood in a line with her mom after being separated from her dad from getting off of the train that took them away from their homes. She stood in front of the soldier holding her mom’s hand. She said that the soldier asked her and her mom how old they were. she said that she and her mom told the soldier how old they were and he smacked their hands with a stick that he had causing them to go to different sides. They had to stand in lines. Then a cart came back. She said that she was on the cart when she jumped off to try to run to her mom but a man grabbed her and put her back on the cart. she said that he told her that she was too young to die. She said that that is where she stayed with her friends in the cart. she said that she never saw her mom or dad ever again. She talked about how she was transported all over with her friends. She said that she mad a bet with one of her friends who was her best friend. She said that she thought that the war was going to last about six months but her friend thought that it was going to last some years. She said that one day her friend was getting water. She said that she found out that they were now free so she went to go find her friend to tell her that they were free and that she had lost the bet. But she said that she found her friend lying on the floor dead. She said that the war was the worst thing that had happened in her life.
This week in English class we started to read a novel called night by Elie Wiesel. This book is about Elie Wiesel’s life. Elie Wiesel survived the holocaust and that is why he wrote this book. He believed that it was his duty as a surviver to never let anyone forget about the terrible things that the germans did to him, his family, and all of the jewish people. Hitler was the person who was in control of killing all and of managing the german soldiers. Before reading the book we did a bunch of assignments or activities as a class. First we filled out a paper on what we thought about the book, what we knew about the book then we watched an interview that Opera had with Elie Wiesel about his book night. Opera and Elie Wiesel talked about all of the terrible things that happened during the Holocaust. On the same paper that we wrote what we thought about the book, what we knew about the book we now wrote what we learned about the book. Then in class we watched a video on the holocaust and what the germans did. Then we wrote in our composition book what stuck out to us the most. I wrote what stuck out to me the most was the fact that they would hurt the children then kill them and that all of the jewish people had to sleep in these huge bunk beds where they were all stuffed into these little beds that looked like they were storage shelfs for books. After the reflection that we had in each of our composition books we had a big discussion as a class. Many people said that they were shocked mostly at the fact that the children were harmed before they were killed. Other people said that they were shocked at the fact that there were a lot of people who were killed during this time. I think that this is going to be a very violent and sad book but I think that it is going to be a good one. I can’t wait to start reading this book.
I think that poverty is a very sad topic to even think about. Poverty is happening all over our world today, and we don't even know it. Poverty is the state of being extremely poor. More than 46 million Americans live in poverty. When someone is living in poverty it means that they either don't gain any money or they gain 1 dollar a day to support their families. To support a family first you need to buy water then you need to buy food then you need to by clothes and lastly you need to pay a mortgage to have a shelter to keep everyone in your family safe. You cannot do this with only 1 dollar or with out any money. Many people are dying everyday because of poverty. They either starve to death or get harmed from how weak they are. Think of more than 46 million people living in these terrible conditions. Imagine not being able to drink water, eat food, hop in a warm bed, or even go to school every day if any day. So many people are suffering in our world today and dying in our world today because of poverty. It is really sad when we hear about this or even think about this.we should try to help each other as humans to not just let each other die. We can help these people just by simply using food and handing it out to them or jus by simply going through our closets and donating some clothes. These people are suffering every day and we should at least try to make an effort to try and help them as our friends. We should care for them and help them through their tough times so that they don't just die alone on the streets. We should make an effort today and every day.
This week is one of the first weeks in the trimester. last week we wrote a letter. This was my letter. This trimester I feel like I did well in school but there were some things that I could improve. Some skills that I think that I could improve are working with others, not procrastinating, and not talking as much during class. Some skills that I think that I demonstrated well this trimester were turning my homework in on time, taking good notes or writing a lot for short stories in my composition book, and making less grammatical mistakes in my essays. Something that I think I am doing better in English class is writing essays. I think that I am making less and less mistakes on the essays. I am using more varying sentences and more literal devices. The thing that I am enjoying the most in English class is writing short stories as warm-ups in the beginning of class. I enjoy coming up with random stories. I also enjoy sharing these stories with the class, like we do. In regard to English class something that I am struggling with is understanding some of the noredink assignments that we have quizzes on.I have many goals for trimester three. One of my goals is getting good grades. I can accomplish this goal by turning in all of my homework, working hard, and not procrastinating. Another one of my goals is to not procrastinate. I can accomplish this by stoping some things from distracting me, for example turning the tv off, not talking to anyone, and not eating during doing my homework. I am happy that this trimester has ended. I am glad that I will be able to go to the las trimester of the year. I want to try to get really good grades.
Something sad that is happening in the world today is that there is huge floating piece of trash in the middle of the ocean. This is called the Garbage Patch. The garbage patch is a huge island made out of trash. This island is huge, it is so big that it is two times the size of Texas. This Garbage Patch is not only ugly but it is polluting everything. It is polluting our clean air and it is polluting our beautiful oceans. Some of the pieces of trash are mistaken for food by animals in the ocean who later die because we have polluted their ocean, their home. Some of these animals don’t even die right away they just spend most of their life with pieces of trash inside of their bodies and get all sorts of diseases that make them suffer an then they die. This is a very sad thing. This can also kill someone because they eat the fish with the trash in it without even knowing until it is too late and then they die. Many people are suffering because of this trash that they are making. we are literally killing ourselves when we litter and don't care about it. we should know better by now to try to not make as much trash as we do and to definitely not litter at all. This Garbage Patch is a huge island of mistakes that wee have mad we are killing our animals and ourselves. We should stop making so much trash and try to not let everyone around us including ourselves die. The trash is also creating pollution that is destroying our air. Yes we are destroying the air that we breathe everyday. This is a very bad thing for notably us or the animals but it is bad for our earth, out only home. We should stop now.
This week in class we started to write an essay for a book that we read called “To Kill A Mockingbird.” About a week ago we had to write vocabulary words for it. The words that I wrote were He was cynical to the boy in the hall.Sarah was fatalistic about the situation.Hannah was a feral she did not want to be here.Julie was a heathen he was always sad.Beth ruefully thought back to the moment when she gave up.Den was adamant he could not change his schedule.Faith always commutes her schedule.Derrick is always dry with her face expressions. Harry was furtive when her was trying to get away with something.Roy is infantile because he still plays with his toys from kindergarten now that he is forty five. Most of the things that we are learning in math are obscure to our lives.Susie was sordid when she got in trouble. There are many statutes to keep us safe from many things.Vicky was vehement when she got a bad grade on the test.Walter was wary when she was around the construction site.Joe wryly responded to the question.Vicky had a lot of apprehension when she failed the test.Gary made his tuba bellow a sound so loud that it could have shattered someones ear drums if they were standing next to him.The tree was bovine and tall. Most of the sentences in the book were brevity. The charlotte made my mouth water. He was devoted to his religion. The earworms were squirming around in the grass. The ladies in macomb in to kill a mockingbird are hypocrites.Katie was really impertinence so she had to sign the infraction book.In music class we learned about largo.Vicky was squalid when she realized that she didn't know any of the answers to the test.Harry was full of squalor.Vicky was sulky after she took the test.Dean was vague after he walked in the room. She caught yaws after she went on her trip. The roly-poly rolled up into a ball when scout touched it.Mrs.lowett was scowling the class after she yelled at them for talking.Quine looked at the notebook with veneer.
