This week in class we watched two videos on memorial day. One of the two videos that we watched was called let them in. Let them in was a song. The song let them in was about the singer of the song saying or asking God to let the soldiers who have died into heaven. He was asking god to open the doors of heaven immediately to the soldiers who died because they had been through a lot in their lives. The song let them in was asking god not to make the soldiers wait to get into heaven because their lives were sad. The song let them in was asking god to please let the soldiers to live a good life. The second video of the two that we watched in class was called just a common soldier. Just a common soldier was a poem. In the poem just a common soldier the speaker and writer of the poem is saying that we should value a soldier’s death more that we do because they served our country. This poem was talking about how we should have a big ceremony when ever a soldier dies. After we watched the two videos in class we had a discussion about the two. We discussed how we should not only say thanks two day a year to the soldiers who served and are serving for our country but we should thank them everyday even f it is only for five minutes everyday. I think that this is true we should pray and give thanks to al of the soldiers everyday.
This week in class we kept n reading bring to Terabitha we read chapter nine. This is what happened in chapter nine: It has been raining for a week, and Jess and Leslie are going crazy. Finally Jess suggests that they should go to Terabithia and Leslie agrees. When they get there, they find that the water in the creek has gone up a lot. Jess, who has always been scared of the water, does not really want to go, but Leslie persuades him. It continues to rain, and with each day that the creek gets higher, Jess gets even more scared, until he ends up lying awake at night worrying about it. He doesn't feel that he can tell Leslie of his fears, but each day it gets harder and harder for him to swing across the creek. One day when they are in Terabithia, Leslie announces that this it was no ordinary rain falling on their kingdom, but it was evil spirits. She says that they should go to the grove of the spirits and pray. Jess does not act like a king and feels like he was not worthy to be the king of Terabithia. Then Leslie says that they should go and dry out while watching TV at Jess’s house. Jess agrees so they leave Terabitha and go. But that night, when he wakes up to hear the rain on the roof, he gets scared all over again, knowing that no matter how high the creek gets, Leslie will still want to swing across. This is what happened in chapter nine in the book bridge to Terabitha. I can't wait to read the rest of the book and find out what happens.

This week in class we made some films they were all sort of different types of films, there were films about: teasing, bullying, adoption, trash and many more. we spent a lot of time making storyboards which are a paper where you script everything but in pictures, scripts which are everything that we would say in the film, filming which is when we use a camera to videotape the scene, and edit which is when you fix the whole film on a computer. My team started their film about teasing but we changed our whole film because it was not good. We changed our whole film theme to trash. We interviewed some people and asked them what they thought about trash in the ocean. We also asked some other people how they thought that we as humans could help fix and solve this terrible problem. we are going to watch all of these films on Friday and vote for three films in each class to enter in the big contest. At the big contest there will be all sorts of things like a red carpet and screening of all of the winning films that were entered. The first place winners will win one thousand dollars for their school. Some winners will win trophies, and everyone who participated will get a backpack and a t-shirt. But when we are at the red carpet we will eat some food and then the filming will start. This was a fun project to make and I can’t wait to go to this event on Friday.
This week in class we read chapter 3 of bridge to Terabithia. In the beginning of the chapter leslie goes to mrs.myers class for the first time. the other students already start to see her as different because of her clothes. A kid named Gary Fulcher asks jess if he was going to be racing and Jess gets excited and gets ready to take him down at the lunchtime race. then jesse starts to draw in class. Gary tries to look at the picture. They start to fight and Jess steps on Gary's toe. The teacher yells at them, and Jess feels really bad about having to stay in school for so many more years. Mrs.myers is a teacher that is basally never smiling she is mad because she is the only teacher with thirty one students. Then it is recess. at recess the boys get divided into heats of four racers. Jess has to go last, so he watches his competition. Leslie comes up and tries to talk to him but he tries to ignore her again. Two boys named Jimmy and Clyde fight over who won their heat. Gary, who won his, says Clyde won, and then they all start to fight. Jess says they should both get to run. Gary makes fun of him and says that's like letting a girl race. So Jess says they should do that too and asks Leslie if she wants to run. She says yes. then after leslie wins her heat, Gary says that she should leave. but jess said that she won and that she should run in thee finals. Gary says that she is just a girl, then jess says that he too scared to loose to her, so she does run. leslie wins the whole race and leaves all of the boys surprised. Jesse is embarrassed when they leave so he sits next to may belle so that he would not have to sit next to leslie.
This week in class we saw a video that was called ted talks it was about a professional tight-rope walker and his life story of how he became that. In the ted talk the speaker talked about how he went from being little kid who liked magic to a professional tight-rope walker. In the ted talk he talked about how he had to have faith while he was walking on the rope. He talked about how he had to have passion to do his work correctly and he did because he loved his job. He talked about how he was also a street juggler and how he needed to focus both as a professional tight-rope walker and a street juggler. He talked about one time when he was walking on a tight-rope. He talked about how one time when he was going to preform in front of two villages who were enemies he wanted to release a dove as a sign of peace. He had practiced for a long time but when he released the dove it landed on his head. The second time it landed on the pole that he was holding for balance. And the third time the dove landed behind him on the tight-rope. The two villages went crazy when the dove did not fly right. But then when he started to walk again they clapped in unison to the beat of his feet putting their differences aside. The speaker said when you are inspired you inspire others.
This week in class we took notes on indicative, imperative and emphatic moods. We wrote: verb forms also indicate mood. The four moods are indicative, imperative, emphatic, and subjunctive. The indicative mood is the form of a verb that is used to state a fact, or ask a question, two examples of this are: I took a kayaking class. The indicative verb in this sentence is took. Have you ever tried kayaking? Have and tried are the indicative verbs in this sentence. The imperative mood is the form of a verb used to give commands (the subject is almost always in second person; you). two examples of the imperative mood are: Follow all safety rules. Follow is the imperative verb in this sentence. Do not forget your water bottle. Do and forget are the imperative verbs in this sentence. The emphatic mood is the form of the verb that gives special force to a simple present or past tense verb (add do/does; did). Two examples of emphatic mood are The Great Barrier Reef does interest me. The emphatic verbs in this sentence are does and interest. I did take the dog for a walk. The emphatic verbs in this sentence are did and take. After we took this notes on indicative, imperative and emphatic moods we practiced. Our teacher showed us a book with examples and we had to answer the examples.
This week in class we took notes on a prezzi that we saw. After taking the notes we wrote a story showing examples of three of these subjects participles, absolutes, appositives, adjectives shifted out of order, vivid verbs, and similes and metaphors. The subjects that I chose were: similes and metaphors, adjectives placed out of order, and appositives. What I wrote as my notes for these three were: appositives -a noun that adds a second image to a preceding noun -or, that second noun image turned into a phrase for example- Dave, my dad, has brown hair. Adjectives out of order -instead of stringing three adjectives in a row, place one before the noun and two after the noun for example- The large bull red-eyed and angry charged at the man. Similes and metaphors -comparing two dissimilar things for the sake of creating an image in the reader’s mind -comparing two unlike things - use like or as for similes - don't use like or as for a metaphor. The story that I wrote for this was: The grass was as green as a four leaved clover (simile) and the sky was a giant light blueberry (metaphor). I headed outside to run around in the sun, the bright yellow object in the sky. But instead of doing what I expected, when I headed outside there was a snake. The bright green snake sticking its young out and waving its tale tried to pounce at me (adjectives out of order). I ran and tried to call my dad, John, (appositive) to help me. When he finally arrived I was already half way up the tree. My dad grabbed a huge stick and shoved the snake back I ran inside with my dad following. My dad called animal control. In the end animal control came an took the snake. A few days later I asked my dad what happened to the snake. My dad told me that the animal control people set him free to run with a new family in a forest. That was the first and hopefully the last time I would ever see a snake in my life.
This week we read a story called Props For Faith It was a story about two girls who had hope. In the short story props for faith by usual hegi there is a lot of faith used. This short story is about two girls. One has polio. Polio is a sickness where someone has a shorter leg than the other. One of the two friends Hanna, wants to cure the other friend named Renate from this disability after she really hurts her by calling her a very hurtful name. This story takes place after world war II or post world war II in Germany. We know this because one of the vocabulary words was Frau. Frau is used to refer to a married woman. In translation to English Frau is Mrs.. Another Vocabulary word that gives us a hint that the setting is in Germany is Dma. Dma means Grandma in German. Hannah is determined to help fix her best friends leg after they have a very unfriendly argument that changes the way that they act around each other. In one part of the story Hanna sneaks into the church and takes holy water to try to cure her friend Renate from her polio disease. In the end the holy water does not heal Renate’s leg from polio, but it does heal Hanna and Renate’s friendship. This short story is about two girls who have a lot of hope.
